From Small-Town Girl to Featured Curator: The NA Sommelier at Sunset Supper

As a kid growing up in a small town in Northern Canada, visiting a place like Pike Place Market felt like stepping into another world. I remember walking through the Market wide-eyed, completely enchanted by the sounds, the smells, the colors, and the people. The scent of seafood and spices surrounded me, vendors called out over their displays of fresh produce, and street performers brought movement to every corner. It was vibrant, unpredictable, and full of life. I absolutely loved it.
After living in Seattle for over 15 years, I consider it home and getting to be a part of Sunset Supper at Pike Place Market feels incredibly special. This event represents everything I love about Seattle: the sense of community, the artistry, the culinary creativity, and the deep care people put into what they make and share. I am honored to be participating in this tradition and proud to be bringing something new to the table.
A First for Sunset Supper
It is the first time Sunset Supper will feature a non-alcoholic beverage experience, and I am honored that they asked yours truly to curate this year's selection.
At Sunset Supper, The NA Sommelier will be showcasing a collection of standout non-alcoholic products selected to highlight the flavor, craft, and thoughtfulness that define this growing space. These drinks aren’t substitutes or afterthoughts. They are intentional, balanced, and worthy of celebration. Brands featured at this year’s event include Self Care Brewery, Wilderton, Pathfinder, Parch, Noughty Wine, Dromme, and Kava Haven. Each brand was chosen for their excellence and ability to complement the evening’s food and festive atmosphere.
Grounded in Purpose
This work is not only about creating delicious and memorable beverages, it’s also deeply personal. When I stopped drinking four years ago, what began as a one-month experiment became a transformative journey. Sobriety gave me clarity through grief, helped me reconnect with myself and others, and opened the door to discovering joy in unexpected places, especially in flavor. It’s why I care so deeply about building welcospaces like the Sunset Supper, where everyone can feel seen and celebrated. Whether someone is abstaining, moderating, or simply exploring something new, my goal is to offer options that honor adult palates and elevate the moment.
An Invitation to Celebrate
If you’re attending Sunset Supper this year, I invite you to stop by and experience the non-alcoholic tasting table. Whether you’re sober curious or simply looking for something delicious, I promise you’ll find something that surprises and delights you.
Thank you to the Pike Place Market Foundation for including The NA Sommelier in this incredible evening. I am proud to stand among so many talented chefs, makers, and beverage professionals, and proud to offer an inclusive way to celebrate.
Come raise a glass with me, whatever it’s filled with.
