The NA Sommelier
Citrus Smash
About the Recipe
I created this one in Seattle at the end of April, when the rain seemed eternal and morning temps were near freezing. I was dreaming of summer weather in Italy, sipping a Sanbitter on the Ionian Sea. Although I couldn’t teleport myself there -- someone please invent this already! -- I could make a cocktail that comes pretty close.
The Citrus Smash is bright and crisp like the sunshine and evokes the salinity and wild of the sea. If you can’t get to the Mediterranean shores anytime soon, try this sunshine in a glass for a proxy. You can substitute any Campari-inspired beverage in place of the Ish Spritz; there is zillions of them. I recommend Italian offerings like Sanbitter or Crodino.
